New racquet introductions

Head Extreme…Yes!

Head continues to upgrade the Extreme Series racquets and that is a good thing, I believe!

The latest version has a slightly different head shape that is not quite as “round” as previous versions.  The frame geometry is more contemporary with angles instead of smoothness.  The string pattern, while still 16 x 19 has a little more open and the graphics are HUGE!

Head Graphene Touch Extreme MP

This version comes in two (2) models;  the MP and Lite.  The MP weighs in at 316 grams (11.15 oz), and the Lite comes in at an easy to use 279 grams (9.84 oz).  Obviously, the Lite has some customization capabilities.

The MP is slightly stiffer at 61 than the Lite at 56.  Not a big difference but it will be noticeable.  The swing weight of the MP is a robust 331 while the Lite is easy to swing at 298.

Both models are 100 square inch head size and look exactly the same.  These racquets are a perfect fit for good players wanting to become more aggressive.  The “open” pattern will bring the ball down into the court (if you are swinging/hitting correctly) making it easy to go for shots that might otherwise go long.

To go with the new versions, there are two bags and a backpack.

New! Head Adaptive Tuning Models!

I have been working on these new models for a few days and will post more data as it is available but right now here a few points about this fascinating racquet concept.

dsc04103

The two (2) models are Speed Adaptive and Instinct Adaptive.  The racquets are both new versions of the current models with slightly newer graphics, that are, in my opinion very cool!  The Instinct has new graphics which will appeal to more players.

First, the Adaptive Tuning can create thirty-two (32) possible combinations, including increasing the overall length of the racquet.

The racquets are shipped in the lightest (285 gram), 16×19, 27.0-inch length format, and swing weight 287.

The Adaptive Tuning Kit is required and costs $29.00.   In the “kit” you will find a “heavy” butt cap insert, three (3) sets of grommet inserts to add weight and change string pattern, and three (3) sleeves that go onto the shaft to create length.

The length modification can be made quickly by the player, if necessary, however, the other modifications require the racquet to be unstrung.

These modifications should be left to your racquet technician.

Below is a spreadsheet representing the various combinations as they are applied.  This does not include all the options because the 16×16 grommet set did not participate in this session.

This was done at Racquet Quest, LLC and represents actual data, not calculated characteristics.

Well, I did It!

Did what?

Hit with the new Head Graphene Touch Speed racquets…all three (3) of them!  So, what did you think?

I think the marketing tagline, “Less shock…More Wow!” is true.  I think the “feel” of each of the models is now rivaling one of the all-time great “feeling” racquets!  (contact me if you want to know what racquet that is)

In addition to Graphene XT Head has added Kraibon material that effectively stops high-frequency vibration before it gets to your hand!  While these high-frequency vibrations don’t do any harm, they do contribute to the “hollow” feeling that some players object to.  This new composite is called Graphene Touch, and it is solid!

Graphene Touch Speed MP

Graphene Touch Speed MP

All of these models are 100 sq. in (645 sq. cm ).  The Pro and MP are both 22mm beam with the “S” having a reasonable 25mm beam.  The Pro, as you would expect, has an 18×20 string pattern, the MP has a 16×19 pattern as does the “S” model.

The “Pro” weighs in at 328g (11.57 oz), the “MP” at 315g (11.11 oz), and the “S” is a comfortable 298g (10.51 oz).  Both the “Pro” and “MP” have a stiffness index of 48, and the “S” is an easy 41 as tested on the FlexFour device.  The RDC stiffness numbers are “Pro” 64, “MP” 61, and the “S” 64.

I did not measure the grip pallets, but the “S” does feel slightly more “round” than the other two.  This shape, if confirmed, may appeal to more players than the “flatter” Head grip style.

Hitting with the “Pro” confirms that it is the “performance” model. However, it feels easy to use on all strokes especially the serve!  The “MP” is easier to use, overall, with a slightly more “supple” string bed that evens out my mis-hits.  The “S” is probably the most user-friendly of all the models but with enough “stick” to satisfy any player style.

Graphene Touch Speed Family

The white and black graphic is more pleasing to me than the previous Speed graphics.  A little red adds a contemporary note.  Does anyone know what the splash of red on the shaft represents?  If you do and are the first to let me know, there is a special offer for you.

These models will be shipping the last week of September.

Why Offer Racquets?

My answer is simple! To give you the very best performance you can get from your racquet dollar!

You are probably thinking “aren’t I getting that now from my online purchase?”

Probably not! I see a lot of racquets from online sources and what I see convinced me that you need to have another option!  The issues I see are typically poor string selection and really poor string installation.  String and stringing are very important, and you deserve better! We  offer racquets, in a limited sort of way, so you are getting what you expect!

How do I select what brands I will offer? Well, I review almost every racquet made either before or right after they are introduced and this review yields a great deal of information that is not normally known to the online consumer.

The Head Selection!

The Head Selection!

Wilson!

Some New Wilson’s

That is why you will see Head and Wilson racquets when you visit the World Headquarters of Racquet Quest. This selection does not mean other brands are not worthy of your consideration, and we are pleased to discuss all brands and offer them when appropriate.

Our racquet prices are attractive and the special service we offer adds to the value of your purchase.

Even if you just have a racquet question, we will be very pleased to help!

A “bag” Thank-You!

Thanks to all of you that saved the World Headquarters of Racquet Quest from being over-run by bags! There are still a few really good bag opportunities, however!

In addition to bags, I have a few new racquets, of earlier models, that need a place to play!  One Prestige (middle) is the 25th Anniversary Edition!  The Prestige next to it is the “S” version which makes it suitable for nearly any player style.  The Radical (far left) is the Graphene Radical “S”.  The Instinct is the Graphene “S”, and the Speed (far right) is the Graphene Speed “S”, 16×19 string pattern.

These racquets are new.

As you know, Racquet Quest is serious about stringing, so the string selection is up to you, and of course, we will help you make a selection that will enhance your performance.  Stringing is not included in the ridiculously low racquet prices.

Can You Buy Prestige?

Of course, you can!  In fact, you can buy four (4) models of Prestige!

You know we are talking about the Head Prestige racquet that has, for many years, been the pinnacle of the Head tennis racquet line-up.  Some of the best players in the world got there with the Prestige racquet.

The "Baad Boys" of the Head Racquet lineup!

The “Bad Boys” of the Head Racquet lineup!

The “Pro” weighs in at 330 grams (11.6 oz) with a swing weight of 330 with a 16×19 pattern.

The “MP” weighs in at 340 grams (11.9 oz) with a swing weight of 319 with an 18×20 pattern

The “RevPro” weighs in at 310 grams (10.9 oz) with a swing weight of 325, and, get this, a 93 sq. in. head size with a 16×19 pattern!  This is a dream!

The “S” weighs in at 326 grams (11.5 oz) with a swing weight of 320 with a 16×19 pattern.

The entire Prestige series, except the Rev Pro which is slightly different, uses the awesome “cap system” which is a bumper guard and string protection system the captures the entire head of the racquet lending stability as well as protection.  When the strings are installed the cap system sort of collapses around the string keeping them safe from ground smacking!

Head Prestige Pro

Head Prestige Pro

So, none of these racquets is “wimpy” but none of them are out of the ballpark for good recreational players or those that want to become better players.

I think the Prestige Series has been overshadowed by the “Speed” and very popular “Radical” series from Head but there continues to be valid spot on the racquet roster for the Prestige racquets.

You can try one to determine of you can “buy prestige” for yourself!  Demo’s of each model are in the shop so call or stop by to check them out.

Head Graphene XT Speed Limited Edition

Head has introduced a Limited Edition of the very popular Speed series and it is awesome looking!

New Head Graphene Speed XT Limited Edition’s Ready!

In addition to the great look, this racquet incorporates a slighlty different string patternDSC_0217 and may be of interest to those seeking a little more spin potential.

The overall weight and swing weight make this a perfect candidate for customization for those players wanting a more powerful, control oriented racquet.

The black grip is a tip-off that this is a performance racquet, and, black looks good on this graphic!

More of these stunning racquets should be arriving in the next day or two so come in and take a look at the racquet and “special” back pack “bag” supplied with the racquet.

A new Limited Edition MegaCombi 12 racquet bag is worth looking at if you want the ultimate technical  “carrying case” for your twelve Speed Limited Edition racquets!

The string in these racquets is Ashaway Monogut ZX Black.
